Why islands
Imported diesel, salt air and fragile grids make island cold storage some of the most expensive in the world to run. Solar with a long-life battery and a corrosion-rated build is the obvious answer; the economics are usually better than in mainland Africa.
What travels
The containerised cold store, the coastal build, the battery specification and the service-contract model. What changes is the mounting — rated for hurricane wind loads — and the logistics partner.
